Buy and Sell Used Kiteboarding Equipment

Looking to purchase used kite gear? Air Padre Kiteboarding has just started up a sister website that promotes just that, used kiteboarding equipment. The site, www.usedkiteboarding.com, is a classifieds website that allows users to browse, post, buy and sell used kite boarding gear all on their own. Whether you are looking to buy cheap gear, or you want to get rid of your older equipment to free up some cash, it is time to check out Air Padre's new site!

Several different posting categories allow users to buy and sell via classified ads for kites, boards, bars, and other accessories. You have the ability to view photos of the used kiteboard equipment and read descriptions, as well as communicate with the buyer or seller.

New users only need to register as a member, then verify through an automated message that is sent to your email inbox. Once you set it up, posting ads is completely free! No sign up fees, and minimal advertising make for a friendly environment to browse through used gear.  We just returned from South Padre Island from our annual kite boarding trip and wanted to express my gratitude to Air Padre for all their help over the years.

I started kiting in 1996 after returning from Maui and made my first trek to South Padre Island 10 years ago. I pursued kiting with a passion until 2005 when, while downhill mountain biking, I was involved in a serious accident which resulted in damage to my spinal cord leaving me paralyzed from the waist down.

I continued to return to South Padre with my friends after my accident, however found it difficult to just hang out and watch. I began flying a kite again, using it to pull me in my wheelchair. I tried kiting with a kite-boat, much like a kayak designed for kiting, I found on the net with limited success. My dad and I then designed and built a bucket in which I could sit in that we mounted on my wakeboard. Over the past few summers, behind our boat, I developed my boarding skills.

This year when we returned to South Padre, I felt I was ready to give kiting a try again. With a light wind kite board rental from Air Padre, my bucket and assistance from my friends and some fabulous people we met on the north flats I was able to return to kiting. It was an emotional and amazing time for me to be able to kite again.

Thanks to all who helped me return to the water with a kite in hand, especially Air Padre and Shane who I have kited with since the beginning! The graphs below have historic wind speed and wind direction which are organized by month so you can see what to expect for wind for any given month. Also note some graphs have a blue tint (representing el niño conditions), some have a pink tint (representing la niña conditions), the graphs with no tint are years with neither. For tinted graphs the Meteorological Analysis Team at Air Padre has indicated the average deviation from normal temperatures for the pacific waters associated with the ENSO (El Niño Southern Oscillation). If you want to better understand how to use the wind graphs scroll to the bottom of the page. Check out the historic wind graphs for South Padre Island. The graph below shows wind from yesterday. The second graph shows the history of wind direction and speeds throughout the entire year. Figure out which months are the best to visit based on historic wind speeds! Welcome to the Air Padre Kiteboarding online store for kiteboarding and kitesurfing equipment. We stock the latest kite surfing gear from the top brands. Navigate the store and look for your next harness, kitesurfing kite, kiteboard, kite package, wetsuit, accessories and more! For starting out, we think that Kitesurf Warehouse has the very best options.  Our Kites are the very best on the market and retail at the very lowest prices you will find. Naish, Blade, Liquid Force and RRD kites are made from the highest quality materials and have received fantastic reviews from some of the industries most experienced equipment testers.  Because we sell them at such great prices , you wont lose so much if you want to trade them in or sell them on in  few years time. Based on previous years Blade kites (exclusive to US in the UK and Ireland)  have all held around 50-60% of their value when being sold on after 2 seasons. Not too bad considering the industry average is around just 42% for 2 year old kites.Bigger boards are generally better in light winds and for heavier riders and they are also easier to learn on. But go too big and its likely your will be wanting to change it after just a few months. Smaller boards are easier to manouvre and better in stronger winds. Once you are over the hurdle of having your first few runs dialed in they are better for progressing. We would recommend the 138cm Blade Sanchez to heavier riders and 134cm Blade Sanchez for everyone else. Both are a superb starter and intermediate boards, but many pro riders are also using them so they wont hold you back.
